This album begins with the sounds of Sputnik and ends with a walk in the Sea of Tranquility. This was recorded in one take with no prior rehearsal or written music. Some of us had never met before. John Churchville, Drums; Rob Crozier, Bass; Paul Bower, Keyboards; Jesse Morgan, Keyboards; Drue Gray, engineering; Dr. Hook, engineering, mixing & production; Stu Morgan, album title/cover model. This one is a monster! Thanks to the talented musicians, engineers and producers who donated their time and considerable talents to the cause.
A song about homelessness by Willow Run Bright Futures' group The Young Blazers. These students have their heads and hearts in the right place, coached through the songwriting process by MC SKLFL The Free One aka Tony Morgan.
Students, ages 8-16, in Willow Run School District recorded a song about their experiences discovering pollution of a local creek and working toward a solution to clean it up. The grant project was called Healthy Habitats and was headed up by Willow Run teachers Sue Littlefield and Laura Hurst. These students are inspirations to us all. We thank them for letting us work with them.
All proceeds from the sale of these recordings support Community Records Foundation's YOUTH SONGWRITING PROGRAMS.
For our IMPROVication series, local musicians are invited to improvise and create their own unique musical forms. Then our in-house producer, Dr. Hook, adds his professional perspective to the recordings. These are best when listened to through a good pair of headphones. Much respect and thanks to all of the musicians who donated their time and talent to create music to support CRF. Enjoy!
SALES of this CD originally benefitted FRIENDS OF MICHIGAN ANIMAL RESCUE, a no-kill animal shelter.
All tracks recorded by Bright Futures students at Lincoln Elementary School in Westland, MI. Site Coordinator Sara Bliss & Bright Futures Executive Director Lynn Malinoff. Special thanks to songwriting teachers John Latini, Roz Hingelberg & Jesse Morgan and producer-extraordinaire Dr. Hook.
